The God-given why for FFWBC of Blackwell's existence is to guide others in loving God with all, sacrificially loving each other, and living to extend God's glory in all aspects of life.
In November of 1958, the Oklahoma State Missions Board came to Blackwell to survey the town to start a Free Will Baptist Church. On March 20th, 1959, the mission was organized into the First Free Will Baptist Church of Blackwell, Oklahoma. In June of 1960, the church purchased property at 6th and Oklahoma, bought a building in Newkirk, and moved it to the property. It was remodeled and became the sanctuary.
In 1965, the church built a new sanctuary and held the first service in the new building on Oct. 3rd, 1965. Then in May of 1986 we celebrated our first services in a new building! God has been faithful. It is our prayer that God will always find us faithful to Him.
If our why is loving God with our all, loving others as Christ loved us, and extending His glory, this can only be accomplished through a genuine and personal relationship with Christ. All we do as a Christian stems from our relationship with Him! So, that is where we will always be headed. Striving to be the tool God can use to bring people into a relationship with Him and help them abide more deeply with Him! And as they abide more in Him, He will formed them into His image! So, our mission is the external evidence of an internal relationship.
What does this mean for you? Most importantly, you're always welcome at FFWBC. We're saving a seat for you. Wherever you're at in your faith, you'll always be welcome as part of our family as we all walk together in obedience to Christ.
